Rebulimo Rides (“Rebulimo”, “we”, “us”, “our”) values your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect information when you use the Rebulimo Rides mobile applications and related services (the “Service”).
1) Information We Collect
A. Information you provide
Account & Profile: name, email, phone number, password (encrypted), profile photo (optional).
Driver Information (if you use a driver app/account): driver license/ID, vehicle details, required verification documents (as applicable).
Support & Communications: messages, requests, and feedback you send to us.
B. Location data
We collect location data to provide ride-sharing features:
Customer Location: to set pickup/drop-off, show nearby drivers, calculate ETA and fares, and provide navigation guidance.
Driver Location: to match drivers with customers, show live trip progress, improve pickup accuracy, provide navigation/route guidance, and support safety features.
Background Location (when enabled): If you allow “Always” location access and background updates are enabled, location may be collected while the app is in the background during an active ride or driver availability to keep trip status and live location accurate.
You can control location permissions anytime in your device settings. If you disable location access, some ride features may not work.
C. Trip and usage data
Ride Details: pickup/drop-off locations, trip route, timestamps, fare estimates, ride history, cancellations.
App Usage & Diagnostics: app interactions, crash logs, performance data, and basic diagnostics.
D. Device and network information
Device Data: device model, OS version, language, app version, time zone.
Network Data: IP address and approximate location derived from IP (for security and fraud prevention).
E. Payment information
If you pay through the Service, payment may be processed by a third-party payment provider. We may receive limited payment-related details such as payment status, transaction ID, and amount, but we generally do not store full card details (this depends on your payment provider setup).
2) How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
Provide and operate the Service (account access, matching, trip management).
Enable ride functionality (pickup/drop-off, live tracking during trips, navigation, ETAs, fare calculation).
Improve safety and prevent fraud (security checks, misuse detection, dispute handling).
Provide customer support and communicate with you (updates, support replies, service notices).
Maintain reliability and performance (debugging, crash analysis, system monitoring).
Comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.
3) Tracking (Important)
We do not “track” users for advertising purposes as defined by Apple.
This means we do not link your data with third-party data for targeted advertising or ad measurement, and we do not share your personal data with data brokers.
Note: Live location during a ride is used for service functionality, not advertising tracking.
4) How We Share Information
We share information only as needed to operate the Service, including:
A. With service providers (processors)
We may share limited information with vendors who help us run the Service, such as:
Mapping & Navigation providers (e.g., to display maps, route, ETA, polylines).
Push Notification services (to deliver ride updates and alerts).
Payment processors (to process payments and confirm transactions).
Cloud hosting / database providers (to store and process app data securely).
Customer support tools (to respond to user requests).
These providers are permitted to use your information only to provide services to us and must protect it.
B. Between riders and drivers
To complete a ride, we share necessary information between riders and drivers, such as:
first name (or display name), profile photo (if enabled),
pickup and drop-off locations,
live location during the ride (as needed),
trip status updates.
C. For legal reasons and safety
We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or government request, or when we believe disclosure is necessary to:
protect rights, safety, and security of users and the public,
investigate fraud or security issues,
enforce our terms.
D. Business transfers
If we’re involved in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to appropriate protections.
We do not sell your personal information.
5) Data Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures to protect your information (encryption in transit where possible, access controls, and monitoring). However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
6) Data Retention
We retain information only as long as necessary for:
providing the Service,
legal compliance,
resolving disputes,
enforcing agreements,
safety and fraud prevention.
Typical retention examples (adjust to your real practice):
Account data: retained while your account is active; deleted or anonymized after account deletion (unless legally required).
Trip records: retained for a reasonable period to support receipts, disputes, fraud prevention, and compliance.
Location data: retained as needed for live trip functionality and operational needs; not kept longer than necessary.
7) Your Rights and Choices
Depending on your location, you may have rights to:
Access your personal data.
Correct inaccurate data.
Delete your account and associated data (subject to legal limits).
Withdraw consent (e.g., location permissions in device settings).
Object / Restrict processing where applicable.
Requesting deletion
You can request deletion by:
Using the in-app option (if available): Settings → Delete Account, or
Emailing us at [Support Email] with subject “Account Deletion Request”.
We may need to verify your identity before completing the request.
8) International Transfers
Your information may be processed in countries other than where you live, depending on where our servers and providers are located. We take steps to protect your data in accordance with this Policy and applicable laws.
9) Children’s Privacy
Our Service is not intended for children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided personal data, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
10) Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version in the app and/or on our website and revise the “Last Updated” date. If changes are material, we may provide additional notice.
